"Inferno" is the 21st episode of Thunderbirds Are Go! season 2. It was first broadcast on the 26th of November, 2017 in Australia.
Whilst the episode wasn't broadcasted in the UK because of its similar nature to the Grenfell Tower disaster, it was eventually released onto DVD in March 2020.
Plot[]
The tallest building in the world catches fire, and local firefighters are rendered helpless. It's up to Virgil and Alan to extinguish the flames and rescue everyone inside.

[A few more button presses and low-frequency pulses emit from the speakers.]
McCready: What's the evacuation plan?
Virgil Tracy: Good question! [Quietly, to comms] Thunderbird 2, what's the evacuation plan?
Alan Tracy: Well, Thunderbird 2 can't get close enough, and we can't exactly risk breaking the glass with so many people inside. I suppose a really big trampoline's out the question?
Virgil Tracy: Everyone's looking at me, Alan...
Alan Tracy: I don't know... we could always... take off the top?
Virgil Tracy: Take off the top of the building?!
McCready: Brilliant idea! Let's do it!

- This episode references several classic ones from the Thompson Tower in City of Fire, The lifting of the Empire State Building in Terror in New York City, the elevator rescue in 30 Minutes After Noon and Virgil painting Alan's portrait in Move - And You're Dead.
- Also, this episode was removed from circulation due to its similarity to a disaster in reality. Coincidentally, so was the classic episode it is based on during the early 2000’s re-run, as that was removed due to its similarly to the 9/11 attacks.
- In March 2020, this episode was released as a bonus episode on Series 3 Volume 2 DVD.
- This marks the first time Virgil appears in a fire version of the Jaws of Life.
- In this episode, Virgil is shown painting for the first time, much like his original counterpart. He's even painting Alan, but thankfully this time the painting actually resembles him.
- This is the first time Alan appears without Scott.
- This is the first time that one of Thunderbird 2's modules are risen above Thunderbird 2 (rather than being lowered or released), and is also the first time that the door to the module isn't opened as a flap (like the other modules) but is instead lowered down, similar to a like a stall-shutter.
- When Virgil asks Alan that they need something to put out the fire, Alan uses the low-frequency suspension to put the fire, which has been proven by the Mythbusters in 2007 season episode 7.
- This is the first known mission where Module 1 was used for a rescue.
- The plot of this episode is similar to the 1974 American film The Towering Inferno. The film is also about a supertall skyscraper that catches ablaze during its dedication ceremony.
