Matthews Field is a United States Air Force base, as well as home to the RTL-2 transporter aircraft. The base commander is unnamed and has two assistants named Hitchins and Scheiler.
In The Cham-Cham, RTL-2s leaving this base on a top-secret mission to transport Poseidon missiles are discovered and shot down by unidentifed fighter jets.
